Every meaningful venture begins with a story—a moment when a problem becomes personal enough to demand a solution. Crux was born from that kind of moment. It wasn’t sketched out in a boardroom or drawn up in an investor pitch. It came from a deeply human need to ensure that, no matter what life throws at us, the people we care about will be supported, guided, and empowered.
At Crux, our mission is simple but profound: to help people be there—because they care. We’re building a platform that makes legacy planning accessible, human, and secure, so that no one is left scrambling in moments that should be about connection and care.
Here’s a look at the people shaping that vision.
Nick Sethia – CEO & Founder
Nick is the original spark behind Crux. The idea came to him during a moment of personal uncertainty—a period where he began to question what would happen if life suddenly changed course. Though everything turned out fine, the experience made something painfully clear: his legacy wasn’t in order.
“My parents wouldn’t have known where to begin—what to access, where to look, or even what I would have wanted. That hit me harder than the health scare itself.”
Nick realised there was no intuitive, modern way for people—especially younger generations—to organise, protect, and share their legacy. No digital solution existed that felt secure, human-centred, and proactive. That’s when the seed for Crux was planted.
With his background in finance, digital strategy, and innovation, Nick began developing the idea into something real. Crux wouldn’t just be about documents—it would be about values, memories, wishes, and peace of mind. A true digital vault for what matters most.
Roberto Ruiz – CMO & Co-Founder
Roberto joined Crux not just because he believed in the vision, but because he had lived the problem it aimed to solve.
When his father, a doctor, passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, Roberto witnessed the emotional and logistical toll it took on his mother.
“She was grieving, exhausted, and overwhelmed by bureaucracy. There were documents everywhere, conflicting instructions, and no clear path forward.”
For Roberto, the Crux mission wasn’t abstract—it was deeply personal. As an experienced creative director and brand strategist, he saw an opportunity to build more than an app. He wanted to craft a brand that would make legacy planning not only easier but emotionally resonant.
“I didn’t just want to help launch Crux—I wanted to be part of it. I saw in it the chance to stop others from going through what my family went through.”
Roberto now leads brand, marketing, and storytelling efforts for Crux, ensuring every touchpoint reflects the platform’s core promise: to help people be there, even when they can’t.
A Mission That’s Bigger Than Any One of Us
Crux is about more than safeguarding assets—it’s about preserving the things that make us who we are. Our stories, our values, our wishes. We’re here to help people protect that emotional legacy, in ways that are modern, meaningful, and secure.
We believe:
- Everyone – not just the wealthy – deserves a way to prepare for the future.
- Legacy planning should be proactive, not reactive.
- The tools we use should feel human, intuitive, and respectful.
Our team is united by a belief that technology can be used to make legacy planning more compassionate and connected. Every product decision, every design, and every word we write is in service of that mission.
Crux exists because life is unpredictable—but love, care, and preparation shouldn’t be. And when the time comes, we’ll help you be there.
Because you care.
